The interlocking features of a shift to a people-centred, environmentally sustainable future and a new political economy mean that a particular item may touch on many subjects.

Recent and current items in the Subject Guide tend to focus on the need to restructure and develop the money system, to turn it into part of the solution to the world's problems instead of one of their principal causes. How money works and how it could be made to work better are questions not yet widely understood even by well-educated people. They are deliberately kept complex and veiled from wider understanding. This means that people concerned with reform and reconstruction in most other fields need to give the money system particular attention.
Money is not the only subject that helps to shape most of the others. Many of the ideas and concepts discussed in the website do so too. For example, the need to revive political economy and pull together the present fragmentation of politics, economics, philosophy and ethics underpins many items. So do the concepts of centralisation and decentralisation, liberation from domination and dependency, and valuing and conserving the ecosystems on which life depends.
